Walmart Celebrity Shopping Carts

Overview

Walmart partnered with NFL star Patrick Mahomes, Grammy-nominated artist Becky G, and iconic Barbie to create a digital-first shopping experience featuring curated celebrity shopping carts. I designed the visual interface and marketing materials that brought these three distinct brand personalities together under Walmart's umbrella while maintaining each celebrity's unique aesthetic.

Challenge

The project required balancing Walmart's established brand identity with the diverse visual languages of three very different collaborators—a professional athlete, a pop star, and a beloved toy icon. Each partnership needed to feel authentic to both the celebrity and Walmart while creating a cohesive campaign experience across web and social platforms.

Approach

Working closely with three celebrity teams, we developed themed visual systems that honored each collaborator's brand essence:

Patrick Mahomes: Clean, athletic-inspired design reflecting his lifestyle as "a dad and dog dad" with products ranging from golf accessories to backyard fun items and dog treats

Becky G: Dynamic, music-forward aesthetic showcasing noise-canceling headphones, fitness gear, and kitchen essentials that reflected her upcoming headlining tour

Barbie: Playful, pink-forward design celebrating her iconic status and "infatuation" with fashion and lifestyle products

Execution

I delivered comprehensive visual assets across multiple touchpoints:

  • E-commerce interfaces for Walmart.com featuring dedicated celebrity cart pages
  • Social media marketing materials for Walmart's main social channels and celebrity partner accounts
  • Cross-platform brand guidelines ensuring consistency across all celebrity collaborations

The design work required rapid iteration cycles to accommodate feedback from multiple stakeholders while maintaining launch deadlines for this time-sensitive Q3 campaign.

Impact

The campaign successfully highlighted Walmart's versatility as part of their broader "Welcome to Your Walmart" initiative, demonstrating how the retailer could authentically connect with diverse audiences through strategic celebrity partnerships. The visual design work helped establish a scalable framework for future celebrity collaborations while proving Walmart's ability to flex across different cultural touchpoints.

The "Welcome to your Walmart" campaign garnered an estimated 7.9 billion media impressions between the Q3 and Q4 collaborations. In addition, Becky G's instagram post for the campaign recieved 154K likes.

This project showcased my ability to work within established brand guidelines while creating distinct visual experiences that honor multiple brand identities simultaneously.
